Introduction to Peter the Real Estate Agent

Hi guys! I'm Peter, and I'm an OU student. I'm a junior, and I'm majoring in Communication.

I believe I'm a very honest person, so I'm going to tell you why I chose to major in Communication.

I honestly chose to do this major because I thought Communication would be a relative easy major. Nevertheless, it turns out that it is not! Some professors are tough and demanding, and there are lots of heavy reading, intensive writing, and several exams that I need to complete to earn an OU Communication degree.

I still think Communication is a pretty cool major because I get to learn about many interesting effective communication theories. Because my major belongs to the College of Arts and Sciences, it has heavier emphasis on theory and research more than practice and application.

Honestly, I don't really remember a "cool class" that I took last semester (I don't think I had any). Nonetheless, these classes, Myth Folklore and Indian Epics, are by far the coolest, my very favorite classes I have ever taken. I really love these classes, and these days I wish all of my other classes are like Myth Folklore and Indian Epics. That would have made my college years much happier!

My biggest accomplishment this semester (I'm not sure about last semester. I didn't that well in classes) is getting enrolled in these two amazing online courses. I love the myth and stories, and I believe they will really expand my imaginative horizons.

My favorite music is classical music. I love Mozart's symphonies and operas. I almost always listen to classical music in my spare time. They really relieve academic stress and make me calm.

I'm aspired to become a competent real estate agent. I'm from Seoul, South Korea, and we have a family real estate business in Seoul. My grandparents founded the real estate agency, and we offer unique information about apartments, condos, and land. I hope to go back to Seoul and take over the business once I graduate from OU.

My favorite food is.. of course, Korean cuisine. My mom is the best Korean cuisine chef! It is one of unique varieties of Asian cuisine, and they are really good! You should try Korean cuisine sometime (there are not many Korean restaurants in Oklahoma, so I might have to cook some for you!)

My hobbies include playing badminton and table tennis. They are very popular in Korea, and I have grown up playing those agile sports.

  1. The Communication major is one that is very intriguing to me, Peter! They did not have that as a department at my school (Berkeley), so OU is the first place where I encountered that major. I know it is a very international major with some of the professors working on crosscultural communication... and with this course on Indian Epics for students at the University of Oklahoma (including an international student from Korea!), that means we are definitely engaged in something very crosscultural in this class! One thing I am curious about is if the gods and goddesses of India are known in Korea... is that something you have encountered? Because of the spread of Buddhism, the gods of India are well known in both China and Japan, but I was not sure about Korea! Here is a short video about the Indian gods in Japan: Hindu Gods in Japan

  2. Hi, Peter! I think that it's awesome that you're a Communication major! That major allows for so much creative freedom when it comes time for you to choose a career, but it sounds like you're pretty confident about real estate! I like that you're excited to work for your family business, because a lot of people wouldn't be. I home you're not missing home too much! I've always wanted to try Korean food. What are your favorite dishes? I've noticed that K-pop has become more mainstream in the U.S. recently. I've only listened to BTS, so you have any music recommendations, let me know! Peter, my dad LOVES badminton and table tennis! He plays with his friends after work almost every day. I need to introduce you two! Good luck with everything this semester!

  3. Hi Peter, a communications major does sound hard! I know from public speaking that sometimes, the most difficult part of a good speech/paper is starting and ending it, or even just writing down parts of a speech vs. saying it. Though I'm sure this isn't the crux of just a communications major, if the novice stuff was difficult for me, I cannot imagine how difficult an entire major would be. I hope you have fun in your classes!

  4. Hey Peter, I'm Nicole or Neko as my name seems to be on google. I think that your major is very particle and can be put to good use, be it in your real estate business or anything else you decide to do!
What is your favorite Korean dish and will you make it for me? I've only ever tried Korean food once and that was at a place in Del City or Midwest City (I can never tell where one starts and one stops) called Taste of Korea but I would like to try it again soon!
Have a good weekend and congrats on getting into this class, I too am excited!

  5. Sup Peter! Nice Introduction! I am glad that you have found the career goal you are looking for. Communication is a hard major and of course any other major is difficult. It is awesome that you wanted to be competent real estate agent for your career future. Most people haven't really decide what they wanted to do yet after they have graduated from college. Dude, I love Korean food; especially, Korean BBQ. The first time that I had Korean BBQ was in Dallas, TX. I wished there were more Korean restaurants in Oklahoma.

  6. Hey Peter,

Communication is a good major, I have a few of my teammates majoring in that as well so get to hear a little bit about what your classes are like. classical music is really soothing, I took a music class my freshman year where we got to learn a little but about it, The only problem for is that i tend to fall asleep while listening to it.

  7. Hey Peter! I love how you mentioned that Communications isn't an easy major, because with the high standards that I hold for this university, I would hope that no major would be easy! I think classes like these have always improved my communication skills more than I would expect them to because as an economist, one of the biggest challenges that I have is explaining things that affect us all on a daily basis in simple terms to people that have no economics background. At first, I contemplated if I wanted to spend a semester learning about stories that might not benefit me in the future in contrast to a history or philosophy class, but if there is anything that I learned from my best friend that is also a communications major, it's not always about the content of the story. It's about how you tell it! I look forward to reading your stories and hopefully also learning from your writing style and how you communicate stories and ideas to your readers.

  8. Hi Peter,

It was fun reading your introduction. I think it is very interesting that you are from South Korea and want to be a real estate agent. Also, I can see how communications would be a difficult major. I am a science major, so those kinds of courses are usually more challenging for me. Cool to see that you are excited about this class. Best of luck this semester.

  9. Hi Peter! It is great to hear that you are from South Korea and chose to go to OU! I am from Oklahoma, and so I didn't have to adjust to a new environment whatsoever. It is really commendable that you were able to come all the way from another country and seem to be well adjusted! Good luck on this semester!

  10. Hey Peter! I think your story is amazing, and I'm sure you will do well in real estate. I will most likely be going into roofing sales, so we will both be doing sales! Once I figured out I was going to be doing sales, I dropped biochemistry and made my own easy major... General Science. I still have hard classes here and there, but it is leaps and bounds better.

  11. Hey Peter! It’s cool that you want to be a real estate agent since you have a family real estate business in Seoul. My father’s a real estate agent here, and my brother’s trying to be one on the side, so I can kind of relate to the family real estate thing. Anyway, hope you have a great semester and enjoy this class as much as you liked Myth and Folklore.

  12. Hi Peter!
It is nice to meet you. I must say that I am impressed by your introduction. Good luck on getting your communications degree. It sounds like you have a good plan in place for when you graduate. I also love listening to classical music. Although I tend to favor Beethoven. I highly recommend Rudolf Serkin's version of the Moonlight and Pathetique piano sonatas. They are breath takingly beautiful when you listen to them. I wish you the best of luck.

  13. Hi Peter!
I enjoyed reading your introduction! It's so cool that you like to listen to classical music in your spare time. I listen to it on occasion, but I don't know many people who are into it. Also, your major seems really interesting. I wish you good luck on getting your degree and your future plans. Hopefully everything works out the way you want it to!

  14. Hey Peter,

Its great that you are honest. I know many people choose a major because they think its easy and it turns out not to be easy. At least it is a major that you like or else that would be terrible. That is very cool that you want to go in the real estate business, it seems like a fun career choice. I really enjoy playing badminton too. I try to go to the Huff at least once a week to go play.

  15. Hey Peter,

I read that you're Korean and was immediately amazed! I'm Korean myself and I never have a fellow mate in my class who is also Korean. It's awesome that you have a real estate future ahead of you, because real estate industry is the way to go right now! I know it's tough doing business in Korea, but I believe you will persevere and get through all your obstacles ahead of you. Cheers, Peter!

  16. Hi Peter! Communication sounds like a really cool major. I hope that yo have enjoyed it! This summer, I had the opportunity to try real Korean barbecue for the first time ever. It was incredibly delicious! I love all of the appetizers they bring out before the meat, especially kimchi and pickled onions. Good luck with finishing your degree and your prospering Real Estate business!

Once I figured out I was going to be doing sales, I dropped biochemistry and made my own easy major... General Science. I still have hard classes here and there, but it is leaps and bounds better. I think it is funny that you chose an easy major, only to have it bite you in the butt a bit.

  18. Hi Peter! It is nice to meet you. Communications seems like a very important major. There are so many interesting things you could probably do with that, and becoming a real estate agent is a good example! Making it easier for people to find a place to live a really nice career choice. I have never tried Korean food, but it sounds delicious. Hope you are having a good semester!

  19. Hi Peter!

  20. Hi Peter!
I hope you are enjoying your time at OU! I'm really impressed that you have come such a long way for your education and I wish you the best of luck with your studies! I think it is so cool that you are from South Korea, I am very interested in visiting there soon! A few of my linguistics classmates have been studying Korean for a few years now and I think it is such a fascinating language. I'm hoping to find a good teacher and start learning it soon, as well! South Korea is at the top of my list of places to go teach English after graduation.

  21. Hey Peter! Props to you for being a communications major! I took the required intro to the communications and it was pretty tough! There are so many principles that go into the concept that I was not aware of until I took the class! It is awesome that you plan to move back and take over the business. I am sure your family is very proud of you!

  22. Hi Peter! Yeah, sometimes it's the "easy" classes that get you the most lol. Coming from a guy who's in Understanding Art right now, sometimes they're not nearly as easy as they sound lol. I'm glad you still enjoy your major despite it not being as easy as you thought though. Hopefully it will serve you well when you get back to Seoul. Korean cuisine sounds awesome by the way!

  23. Hi Peter! I think you being a communications major is very cool! I feel like I'm also like you in the sense that I thought communications would be an easy major and have easy classes too but I'm glad you realized it wasn't and now I know that too, thanks to you. I have to agree with your statement about these two classes! I am so glad I enrolled in this class because it is very unique and I hope I get into the Myth-Folklore class next semester. Good luck on the rest of the semester!

Week 3 Story: PDE Ramayana Part A

The capital of ancient city of Indian subcontinent, a beautiful and glamorous place, was called Ayodhya. It lied in the country of Koshala. Koshala was known for its unique and elegant beauty just like the past Indra's well-decorated cities. The city was filled with luxurious surroundings. Large dwellings for thirsty people, beautiful and lavishly decorated diamond, silver, and gold temples and shrines, as well as mountains with rich biodiversity. Besides the luxurious and rich surroundings, there were other eye-opening and awe-awakening elements in the city. Gardens had all sorts and kinds of birds, lions, and animals like a zoo. Beautiful and exotic flowers were spread apart everywhere in the city. Bees and lotuses were everywhere. Wind blew honey bees and they produced the best-tasting honey. Birds were sitting on people's head and arms and sang occasionally to entertain people (especially women and children). It seemed almost like a Heaven on Earth. Nevertheless, ther
